October is here, and that means another spoooooky selection for this month's book club!

We've chosen The Only Good Indians by Stephen Graham Jones (2020). This horror novel begins with four Blackfeet men hunting elk on forbidden land set aside for the elders. Their actions that night follow them in haunting and disturbing ways years later, when it seems that something has not forgotten about the incident. Besides the upfront horror elements, its a story of revenge, survival, and conflicts over tradition. (Heads up to sensitive readers: there are sequences of violence against animals and other darker themes throughout the story)

A missing teenager, a summer camp, concerned parents, ANOTHER missing child?!

This month we go scouting for answers in The God of the Woods (2024) by Liz Moore. This mystery novel is set in the 1970s, when a wealthy family's daughter goes missing from the camp her parents own...Yet this isn't the first child who has vanished from the family. The back of the book promises twists and intertwining plot threads, and it's been recommended at least once before at this book club, so there's some good word of mouth going around.

Join us for this meetup as we set up our mosquito netting, gather round the campfire (or the Destihl firepit if weather and employees allow), and discuss this thrilling novel.
