No Longer Human is a classic 1948 semi-autobiographical novel by Japanese author Osamu Dazai, considered his masterpiece, that chronicles the life of Yozo Oba, a man alienated from society who uses a facade of clownish behavior to hide his inability to understand human emotions, leading him down a path of self-destruction through alcohol, drugs, and failed relationships.
