About us

✨ Welcome to The Oratory ✨

We are a space designed to be a place to intentionally connect, creatively express, and come home to ourselves through the power of the arts, live music, discourse, and play.

Our experiences invite you to slow down, get curious, reconnect with your inner child, and explore what it means to live with greater intention. 💖

On the last Sunday of every month with the support of our guest expert of the month, we explore themes of self-discovery, emotional well-being, mental health and wellness, and inner-child healing. You know... the light stuff 😅.

Come as you are.
Shoes are optional (slippers provided).
And there are always snacks!

Bring your curiosity, your stories, your questions, and an open mind. Whether you're looking to meet like-minded people, explore your creative side, discover new perspectives, or simply experience something a little different, there's a seat waiting for you at The Oratory!

Be our guest, bring a friend, and we can't wait to meet you. 🥰

OCTOBER THEME: Superstitions and The Supernatural
With Halloween around the corner, it's the perfect opportunity to explore the supernatural, the cosmos, and our relationship with the unknown.

How can astronomy and the stars invite us to approach these mysteries with curiosity and whimsy, rather than fear?
How might we draw tangible connections between our relationship with the cosmos and our lives here on Earth?
If Mercury is in retrograde, can I scientifically blame it on my bad mood? Asking for a friend... 😅

Astronomer, researcher, and science educator, Ruhee Janmohamed, is the new Engagement Coordinator, at the University of Calgary's Rothney Astrophysical Observatory. She holds a degree in Physics and Astronomy from the University of Victoria, where she contributed to research on exoplanets and protostellar outflows. Her passion lies in connecting people to the cosmos through curiosity, wonder, and inclusive science storytelling.
Bring your questions, curiosities, and conundrums about all things cosmos and join us for an in-depth conversation filled with meaning, magic, and free snacks. 😆

Meet us at The Oratory, come curious, bring a friend, wear your slippers, and let's explore together!
