The Out Scout

Let's hit the trails together! Join us for a scenic fall trek from Ethel Harrold to Canyon Falls on Saturday, October 24th at 10:00 AM.

Starting at the Ethel Harrold Trailhead above Boulder, this ~3.5-mile out-and-back trail winds down through quiet ponderosa pine forests straight to the banks of South Boulder Creek and the roaring cascades at Canyon Falls. It's a fantastic, crisp autumn hike - just remember we descend first and gain our ~500–600 ft of elevation on the climb back up!

Hike Details:

  • Distance: ~3.5 miles (Out & Back)
  • Elevation Gain: ~550 ft (Inverted hike: downhill first, steady incline on the return)
  • Difficulty: Moderate
  • Meeting Location: Ethel Harrold Trailhead (Walker Ranch, off Flagstaff Rd)
  • What to Pack: Layer up for cool October canyon shade, water and trail snacks.

As always, all fitness levels and allies are welcome. We maintain a zero-pressure, welcoming pace so everyone can enjoy the trail and connect!

To keep our group moving on schedule, we give everyone a 15-minute grace period at the trailhead before heading out and since cell service drops near the mountains, we stick strictly to that departure time!
