What we’re about
The out/there project is a community-building effort designed to help people meet others in their neighborhood—without tickets, fees, or pressure. We host casual bar hangs and group activities that make it easy to get out, connect, and feel more at home in the city.
Before each event, attendees fill out a quick survey that’s turned into anonymous “profiles” shared in advance. It’s a light, low-key way to break the ice and give people a sense of who’s coming.
Whether you’re new to the area or just looking to meet a few more friendly faces nearby, you’re welcome to join. Just fill out the survey, show up, and say hi.

Hello there! We’re the out/there project and we host regular meetups across NYC that aim to make showing up feel easier.
We’ve also built a WhatsApp community with 600+members, who regularly organize casual meetups for pickleball, trivia, climbing, nights on the town, and more.
This Sunday, August 3rd, we’re doing something special – our first beach meetup. Come find us at Rockaway Beach, where we’ll be hanging out all afternoon. It should be a great opportunity to meet some new people if you haven’t been to one of our events before. We’d recommend commuting via the Ferry if you can!
Details below:
- When: Sunday, August 3rd – beginning at 1:30pm, until whenever
- Where: Rockaway beach – We’ll be meeting near the ferry, around the B108 street (and shore parkway entrance.) The exact location will be dropped the day of in our WhatsApp group.
For those not in the loop, here’s how it works: Just fill out the quick, anonymous survey below. We turn everyone’s answers into “profiles” that we share before the event, so you’re not walking in blind and feel encouraged to show up. If you’re not into surveys, no worries. Just drop a comment below and I can DM you an invite to the group chat.
