Outdoor and Culture Club Nowruz Afghanistan 2023

Details
Greetings friends! I'm planning a Nowruz dinner! While most of us know of Nowruz as the Persian New Year, few know that Afghanistan also celebrates Nowruz in their own unique way. Celebrated as "Farmer's Day" and traditionally starting on March 21st and lasting 2 weeks, it starts off with a tulip festival, progresses into sports such as a buzkashi tournament and always includes special dishes such as sabzi chalaw and samanak. Afghanistan dates back to ancient times 3000 BCE and earlier, and has over 14 established ethnic groups within it's border. It is culturally diverse country with traditions that change when traversing to different regions. From the Pashuns to the Kurds, many different ethnic groups also have different cuisines, making Afghanistan's culinary delights as exciting as a live buzkashi tournament! While we likely will not see a live buzkashi tournament anytime soon here in Canada, we can partake on a lovely dinner celebrating Afghanistan Nowruz!
Due to a mandatory deposit, I will only be selecting those I have met personally on my Meetup or other Meetup groups I am affiliated with that have an excellent attendance record.
Our Nowruz dinner will be held at Zarak, a creative new Afghan restaurant bringing the culture of Afghanistan right here to Vancouver.
