Outdoor and Culture Club Fiesta De La Candelaria Peru 2023

Greetings friends! I am planning a Fiesta De La Candelaria dinner! The Fiesta De La Candelaria in one of the largest celebrations in South America. In Peru, it is the largest and most famous celebration throughout the entire year. While the festival would normally start on February 2nd and lasting 2 weeks, I have scheduled our dinner for a later date due to other awesome ethnic dinner events I'm hosting. The origins of the Fiesta De La Candelaria date back to 1781 and celebrates the Virgin of Candelaria, the patron saint of the town of Puno where the festivities are held. Music and dance are at the core of this festival, all of it performed by elaborately-costumed participants. An incredible two week-long synthesis of indigenous and Catholic traditions, this is one of the most iconic Peruvian festivals. The different ethnic groups within Peru combine during Fiesta De La Candelaria wearing displaying their heritage and traditions. While we may not be able to experience this epic celebration here in Vancouver, we can have a still enjoy an awesome Peruvian dinner!

Our Fiesta De La Candelaria dinner will be held at Suyo, a delightful new Peruvian restaurant combing old traditions with modern methods.
