About us

The Outsiders is a group for neurodivergent people, ADHD, autistic, or otherwise wired differently, and honestly, anyone who's spent a lot of their life feeling one step outside of how things are "supposed" to work. You don't need a diagnosis to be here. You just need to want a room where you don't have to explain yourself.

This isn't a support group in the clinical sense and it isn't a networking group either. Most of what we do is genuinely just open time: people talking, meeting each other, comparing notes on the stuff that's actually hard, without an agenda running the room. Some meetups will have a light prompt or theme to help conversation get going, but nobody's running a workshop at you. Come alone if that's easier. You don't have to perform or have anything figured out.

This group grew out of Present, an AI companion I built for neurodivergent and overwhelmed minds, out of my own experience of losing nearly everything to a manic episode and having to rebuild from there. Present isn't what this group is about, and you don't need to have heard of it, use it, or care about it to belong here. But it's honest to say where this came from: a lot of what I learned building something for people whose brains work differently is that most of us are also just looking for other people who get it in person, not just in an app.

First meetup: September 17th, in Naperville, IL. Come see who's out there.
