Should philosophers preach with poetry, or get straight to the point?
Details
O, wouldst thou have philosophers preach in verse's sweet song,
Or speak in plainest terms, with nary a poetic throng?
Doth 't lie with he who wouldst learn to unravel the enigma spoke,
Or with the wise one, who doth bid thee ponder and invoke?
Or shall 't be both, in balance of words both high and low?
What profit and loss doth come from times of mystery's dark veil,
And times of revelations stark and plain, with room for none to fail?
What say you, good scholars, in this tangle of persuasive might?
