What we’re about
Welcome to The Philadelphia House of Letters, a writing colony for fiction writers, non-fiction writers, poets, and souls who resonate with the following: "Instructions for living a life. Pay attention. Be astonished. Tell about it" (Mary Oliver). My name is Melanie. I stepped (ran) away from the world of Scrubs, Germs, and Tears (apologies, Florence) to write fiction and develop my portfolio as a media writer. I got stuck pretty quickly. Blank pages. Frustration. Doubt. Something was wrong. I slowly realized that I needed a mentor, a partner-in-art, a colony of creatives. Thus was born The Philadelphia House of Letters: a home for storytellers...the successful ones, the frustrated ones, the ones that need to put words on paper.
