Ruby Wash Loop

Details

This trail is in the Buckhorn Mountains not too far from the Wickenburg Mountains trail that we enjoy occasionally. The trail is rated a 4 out of 10, considered "Moderate," with Moderate described as "Typically, more rock or undulated road surface. Potential rocks and/or tree stumps less than 18" tall and/or vertical ledges less than 18" tall and/or near vertical ledges or waterfalls less than 36" inches. Tire placement becomes more difficult. Can be steep and off-camber."

I have not been on this trail recently, so I don't know if things have changed. There is always a risk that we will have to turn around due to trail damage.

One trail reviewer stated:
"It's a rough trail with some pretty difficult obstacles that change often. I recommend rock rails and some undercarriage skid protection. The ledge at way-point 9 can be difficult for vehicles without a locker, plus, it does not have a bypass." (Shown in the picture.)

The recommendation is to have at least 33-inch MT or AT off-road tires (no street tires) and at least one locker.

As usual, bring along appropriate survival and extraction equipment and supplies: water for you, passengers & vehicle; tools & recovery gear; clothing & footwear suitable for walking about in the desert; lunch & snacks; and, items for your comfort such as chairs, shade, hats & sun protection.

Please note that the weather forecast, wildfires, or other unforeseen events may change our plans at any time, so please check here for updates as the date approaches.
