November 11, 2025 Program: Birding Alaska's Vagrants & Hawaii's Endemics
Details
Elgin Area Camera Club November 11, 2025 Program: Birding Alaska's Vagrants & Hawaii's Endemics, two hot spots for every serious birder
By Jackie Bowman
Jackie will share stories & photos from her birding trips to these two very different locations. Alaska is a migratory mecca due to its proximity to the Arctic & Asia. Here birders can spot rare Asian birds not typically seen in the lower 48. Hawaii is the endemic evolution hotspot with its isolated volcanic islands. Birders can witness first hand how the bird species of the islands have evolved in unique ecosystems.
Jackie began birding in 2009 on a family vacation to the Badlands and Black Hills, and became
captivated with capturing photographic images of birds, wildlife and nature. Her photographs have been widely published, and they have won many awards.
And for you birders, her ABA Lifer Count is 818 and ABA Photo Lifer Count is 787
