Elgin Area Camera Club - February 10, 2025 Program: “Patterns, not Places: how to create compelling images anywhere"
By Joshua L Smith

“Patterns, not Places: how to create compelling images anywhere"

How do you create a fascinating photo without visiting a fascinating place?
What happens when you can’t take a trip to see the Statue of Liberty, Yellowstone Falls, or Amsterdam’s houses?
How can you create beauty from the ordinary?

Joshua enjoys creating images that are different from the ordinary and finding the details that create gorgeous images. From industrial ceilings to reflections in glass to your own home, there are always images to be captured, created, and marveled at.

About the presenter:
Joshua L Smith enjoys capturing images anywhere he goes; his camera is never far from his side. He loves teaching anyone about the thrill of photography - light trails, macro, architecture, cars, and even abstracts. You can find most of his images on his website: fourpointedstar.com
