Workshop Overview
When many people think of improv they might think, “I could never do that! It’s impossible!” Not so! You can do it! Almost everyone improvises something every day. Learning to improvise is a simply a matter of recognizing this and building on those skills that we naturally have.
Improvisation, or the art of making things up, is most commonly known as a great way to make people laugh and create comedic content. Considered by some to be the most fun, challenging, and even profound of the performing arts, improv can also be a great way to boost your confidence, improve your presentation skills and hone your listening ability. In professional settings, improv is increasingly recognized as a powerful tool to encourage innovation, cultivate creative thinking and respond positively to change.
In this three-hour workshop, through a series of fun, highly interactive games and exercises, you will:
• Explore the basic building blocks of improvisation (listening, agreement and supporting your partner) and
• Learn about the benefits of an improvisational mindset, and
• Use those skills in a series of exercises and games;
• Discover how you can apply those skills to a range of scenarios and situations whether on the stage or in life,
• Have fun. Learn things!
