What we’re about

Being in psychotherapy training can be both profoundly rewarding and deeply disorienting. You start to see the world — and your relationships — through a new lens. You grow, you shed, you re-learn how to connect. Sometimes you just want to talk to people who get it.

The Pit is a social community for psychotherapists-in-training, practicing therapists, counsellors, and others working in the helping professions who want to connect outside the therapy room — and talk about life, theory, and everything in between.

Here, we’ll:

Meet for casual hangs and conversations about all things psyche and self — modalities, boundaries, supervision, transference, spirituality, growth, you name it.

Occasionally pick an article, film, or book to discuss through a psychodynamic, humanistic, or integrative lens.

Build friendships and a sense of camaraderie with others who are walking a similar path.

Do fun, non-therapy things — movie nights, park picnics, art shows, dinner outings — because therapists need play too.

This isn’t a clinical supervision group or therapy circle — it’s a social, reflective space where curiosity, respect, and authenticity lead. Whether you’re just starting your training, deep into your practicum, or already practicing and open to being around newer folks, you’re welcome here.

We’re mostly based in Toronto, but open to anyone who feels drawn to this field and wants to connect meaningfully. Come find your people — the ones who ask, “What’s coming up for you right now?” and really mean it.
