John Garth, Tolkien and the Great War, Part I
Details
As mentioned previously, we will be having this one meeting in mid-December in place of both end of November and end of December, since more people will be traveling for both Thanksgiving and Christmas (and those last Wednesdays happen to be the actual eves).
So, we are going to spend three meetings on John Garth's Tolkien and the Great War, a very rich book for understanding Tolkien's background and life and how they contributed to the amazing depth of the "Legendarium," as he called it. I have decided it will be best to simply do those meetings according to Garth's three-part structure of his book, so that the reading experience follows how he saw the flow of his exposition. So, for this December meeting, it will be Part I, which is the prologue and chapters 1-6.
I look forward to seeing any who can make it for some good discussion.
