Hump Day Hike to Flat Rock on the Chumash Trail

Details
We did this hike once last year, and it's time to do it again! In appropriate PMH fashion we'll hike up in the light and down in the darkness, so it's imperative that you bring a flashlight or headlamp. The Chumash Trail is on the east side of Simi Valley, and is a hike that I do with another group every Thursday evening. But we'll do it slightly different from them because we will stop after only 2.25 miles at 'flat rock', which has the best view. And it should be just about dark by the time we get there, so we'll have a perfectly delicious view of Simi Valley below us as we rest on a large outcropping of rocks before descending.
This is a beautiful hike in gorgeous sandstone formations and fantastic night views of Simi Valley on the way back down. As a special treat, I'll point out to you the spot where I slipped on some loose stones 2 years ago and fractured my ankle. If you get lucky, I might even do it again, so what could be cooler than that? (The night photo below was taken on this very trail on that very night, March 1, 2012 when I had the mishap.)
