Henninger Flats Potluck in the San Gabriels

Details
The Flats were originally homesteaded by William Henninger, who farmed this land. About a century ago the land was leased to the US Forest Service and, in the first such program in California, was used to raise tree seedlings to reforest burn areas throughout SoCal. As many as 120,000 seedlings were produced each year until the large fire of 1993 devastated the area, though it is making a comeback, and is currently under the control of LA County.
George and/or Dave R will lead us on this hike. I will sweep so we don't lose anyone. At our destination there is a new administration building, as well as a small museum with displays about reforestation and history. More details about the hike are below the picture.
It will take perhaps 1.5 hours to hike to the top, and is a similar hike to Rocky Peak in Simi Valley in terms of distance, but a bit more elevation.
There is also a waterfall here, and we can check it out, but it will may be dry. We are trying to time this so we can see the sunset at the top, so please try not to be late! Allow extra time for bad traffic etc.
This is a potluck, so try to bring something fun to eat and/or drink to share with others. The views are TERRIFIC here!
Meetup maps is seriously wonky, but that is the correct address. I also provide directions below.
More about the interesting history of this location can be found at this Wikipedia article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henninger_Flats), where the following picture is located. Two more pictures from George are down below.
