Hike to Mt. McCoy and the Ronald Reagan Library

Come join me on a pleasant evening hike.
Please come prepared with a light and possibly poles if you need them. First we hike to the scenic cross area. We won't stop for long at that spot but long enough to enjoy the view. Then we will keep going on to the Reagan library to get a little more in.
Our route:
From the parking lot behind the Clinica’s medical building, we will cross over Madera and walk a short distance through the neighborhood to the trailhead. We will hike a series of switchbacks for about 1.5 miles to the cross at the top. This is a steady climb across the face of the hill, always in full view of the neighborhood below, and of Simi Valley. At the top are panoramic views of Simi Valley, Moorpark, the Simi Hills, Santa Susana and Santa Monica Mountains, and the Reagan Library close by.
We won't sit for too long at the top but keep going over to the gate of the Reagan Library.

Hike Time: 6:00 pm. Note a little later than our usual 5:30pm
Sunset: 7:46pm bring a light or charged phone to be safe
Where to meet: the parking lot behind the Clinica’s medical building on the corner of Royal and Madera.
Distance: about 3 miles but longer if we go to Reagan Library.
Route type: Out & Back
Elevation gain: 700 ft
Difficulty: Fit beginner/ please do not expect to stop for too long, we only will stop briefly at the cross to take in the view and then we will go over to the library. You might decide to turn around at the cross if you are a beginner.

I will cancel the hike if it is above 85 at start time, Wind is above 20 mph or if less than 2 people are signed up the hour before start time.

WHAT TO BRING:
Flashlight or Headlight
At least 2 liters of water/light snack
Good hiking/walking shoes and poles if you use them
Dress according to the weather.
