Tapo Canyon and Wildflowers, Simi Valley
Details
This is a moderate 4.5 mile hike with an elevation gain of 800’, suitable for fit-beginners.
The Hike
My hikes are slow paced (1.5-2 mph) and the listed end time is only an estimate. We take breaks, we explore, and we don't leave anyone behind. If this hike isn't for you, please find another that best suits your needs.
Meet me at the trailhead (see map in the photo gallery) at 6:00, we'll start at 6:05.
It is not a difficult hike because the elevation gain is rather mild, and it's mostly spread out over the whole area with gradual climbs with a moderately steeper climb coming out of the canyon.
From the trail head, we'll hike about ½ mile on level ground followed by a steady and gradual 1 mile climb to the junction at the top. Then we will hike a small hill, take a breather and enjoy the views, and head down into the canyon.
Coming back, we will hike out of the canyon to the junction which is a moderately steep climb but doable for beginners. At the junction, we'll hike about 1½ miles back to the trailhead.
Sunset is at 7:00pm, last light is at 7:25pm. Bring your flashlights.
