Join me 6pm tonight on a hike "to the bench" for a shorter but great view hike.

The hike begins at Oak Creek Canyon Trail off of Moorpark Road. The plan is to hike to the bench and then turn around. We go at an intermediate pace, so please no beginners, you should feel comfortable only taking a break at the halfway/bench turnaround spot or maybe just stopping briefly to catch breath at top of a hill.

To get there, take the Moorpark Road exit and then go west until you reach the dirt lot that says Los Robles Trail (that is not where we are meeting) and then go right onto Greenmeadow all the way to the end. The free paved parking is at Greenmeadow Park. We will meet at the the Oak Creek Canyon Trailhead.
Someone from another group I hike with calls this trail Space Mountain trail because there are a lot of blind curves and bikers on this trail.
It is important that the group sticks together on this trail as there are a few junctions that can be confusing and cause you to take a wrong turn and end up somewhere else.
If you are a more advanced hiker you can do the longer 8-9 mile version on your own that can take you to Angel Vista.

Distance: 4-5 miles, this is a guess
Elevation Gain: 1000 ft?
Difficulty: Intermediate must be able to stay with group
Dogs: No
Restrooms: No
Water Fountain: No
Parking: Free at Greenmeadow Park
Trail: Out and back
Sunset: 7:55pm bring a headlamp or light just in case, some steep footing, requires this for safety as it will be dark at least part of the time.
Weather: Windy or rainy weather, extreme heat will cancel hike

Known Dangers: Rattlesnakes, slip-'n-fall, poison oak, are on this trail, kamikaze mountain bikers, due to the blind curves

Bring: A snack if you need it at the bench spot, a headlamp, light layer in case it gets chilly, wear hiking shoes with good traction as some areas are slick, poles if you prefer
Hat or sunglasses for the start of the hike
LOTS of H20 I recommend 2-3 liters

If less than 2 people are signed up by noon of hike day, may cancel.
