Come Join Us on Friday, June 12, for an evening workout hike.

We start at the Main Entrance to Wildwood Park at the dirt parking lot at W Avendia de los Arboles. We will take the Mesa Trail to the Santa Rosa trail, which is about 1 mile to the top. We will connect with the Lower Santa Rosa Trail. If you are a beginner you could do the hill and then turn around to make it a heart-pounding 2 mile hike. The rest of us will keep going at a good pace as the trail loops around so you can see Santa Rosa Valley/Camarillo. We will take a short break at the Hobby Train Yard and continue to the Box Canyon Trail to reconnect with the Mesa Trail back to our cars. Distance: 6.3 miles
Elevation Gain: 1000+
Difficulty: Intermediate Hike due to faster pace. If a Beginner tags along they should turn around at the top and not do the loop.
Dogs: No
Restrooms: There is a pit toilet at the trailhead
Water Fountain: no
Parking: Free parking lot. Note when the gate closes for the night
Trail: This is a loop trail unless you just want to do 2 miles up to the ridge and back.
Sunset: 8:05 PM. Bring flashlight or headlamp just in case we take longer than 2 hours.
Weather: Hike will be canceled due to extreme weather (85 degrees or above, Rain, Santa Ana Wind conditions etc).
Known Dangers: Mountain Bikes, Cactus, Rattlesnakes and poison oak can be at this trail. Watch what plants you brush up against since there is a lot of cactus on/near the trail and be aware snakes co exist here.
Bring: Flashlight/headlamp and a personal snack. You may want sunscreen/sunglasses or hat starting out and an extra layer in case you get cold on the way back. We can take a 5-10 minute break at the bottom which is a little more than halfway, where the houses are and then keep going.
Bring lots of water I recommend 2-3 liters. It is always good to bring more that you need and get practice carrying it.
