Come join us Wednesday, September 23 for an evening hike.
We start on time at Wildwood Park where there are a ton of trails. My usual is the Santa Rosa Trail however this day I would like to divert from that and first hike to Lizard Rock and then make a loop back where we can decide what we either want to explore or what to do to complete a 5-6 mile loop.

Distance: 5-6 miles at an intermediate pace

Elevation Gain: 500 ish

Difficulty: Intermediate Hike. We like to hike for conditioning maybe only stopping once halfway through for 10-15 minute snack break.

Dogs: No, even if the park allows, I prefer no dogs on my hikes

Restrooms: There is a pit toilet at the trailhead

Water Fountain: no

Parking: Free parking lot just note when the gate closes for the night

Trail: There are a lot of trails in here and today my plan is a little loose so we can decide as group what we want to do together.

Sunset: 6:57 pm bring flashlight/headlamp or charged phone for a light, even though you might not need it, always good to have light just in case.

Weather: It can always start out warm at this trailhead since there is no shade.

  • Hike may be cancelled a few hours before event due to extreme weather or if less than 2 besides the leader are signed up.

Known Dangers: Rattlesnakes and poison oak can be at this trail. Watch what plants you brush up against and be aware that snakes co exist here.

Bring: Flashlight/headlamp, water and a personal snack. You may want sunscreen/sunglasses or hat starting out and an extra layer in case you get cold on the way back. We can take a 5-10 minute break at the bottom which is a little more than halfway, and the picnic bench is back!

Bring lots of water I recommend 2-3 liters. It is always good to bring more that you need and get practice carrying it.
