I’m excited to host a hike again after a long absence! I’ve done this one a couple of times and I’d like to do it again. It’s a challenging hike, but I hike at a slower pace. This would be a good hike for people with good endurance, but that don’t want to race to the top. We will take breaks to snack, hydrate and take pictures. There is a beautiful waterfall and views of the gorge.
Plan to spend most of the day on this trip, it might not be a good one for you if you need to be somewhere in the afternoon. We will leave promptly at 7am from the Gateway Transit Center.

Total Distance: 7.2 mile loop
Elevation change: 2,198 ft
Time to complete: 4.5 hours
Rating: Moderate - difficult
Permit: Discover Pass
Transportation: Carpool 7am or meet at the TH at 7:45 am
Driving Distance: 72 miles RT

CARPOOLING: We will organize carpooling at Gateway Transit Center. Please be on-time for a prompt departure at 7am. We’ll meet on the first level of the parking garage facing the street. Total round trip driving distance is about 72 miles. We suggest a gas donation of 10 cents/mile/person. Exact change makes it easier to divide among drivers. Nobody will be turned around for their inability to contribute.

My Style:
I normally hike at a pace of 2-3 mph depending on terrain, keeping safety as a priority while managing to have some fun along the way. We will have snack/water breaks as needed, and a quick lunch/snack break at the summit.

Necessities:
Please make sure you bring the ten essentials (see below).

  1. Ten Essentials:
  2. Navigation ( map, compass, awareness of route)
  3. Sun protection-sunscreen and glasses
  4. Insulation ( extra clothing, layers)
  5. Illumination (headlamp or flashlight, extra batteries)
  6. First aid supplies
  7. fire (waterproof matches, lighter, candles)
  8. Knife, tools
  9. Nutrition (extra food)
    10.Hydration (extra water)
    11.Emergency whistle

Please understand that you are responsible for your safety and preparedness, know your abilities and limitations. My goal is to get everyone up and down the mountain without injury but this requires you to know your limits. If we do this we will have an amazing day.

Note: If you are in the going list, and decide you are not going to attend, please update your RSVP to "Not going".
