I did post a same day same route hike for 10:30am, then 8am, then 8:30am, and now 10am (so there will be 8am start, 8:30am start, 10am and 10:30am start, exactly same hike, pick one that suit you)

tomorrow the highest tempreture will be 94. Majority of this trail is in the shades, only on top at the view point is exposed to sun if you not purpoely to go in tree shades.

Wear July 4th thememd clothes or hat or scarf or hairband or something, if you do have... it will be fun! (please take pics as you go and later on upload here to share).

This is a fundrasing hike, to benefit Portland Hiking Group. Donation of $1 is appreciated, not obliated (you can bring a dollar cash or you can Venmo). Donations will be first used towards expenses to make Portland Hiking Group exist. so far the donations we collect only barely enough to pay meetup.com fees. If we have extra funds, we can get all hike leaders First Aid/CPR trained... if we have more, we can get a satellite communicator so when you get on a remote hike where there is no cell signals, it provides extra safety feature. (donation of $5 is good for the year. $20 is good for lifetime for you to enjoy all events from Portland Hiking Meetup Group, PHMG).

Trail description:

No permit needed for parking. Trailhead not many spots but you can park anywhere on the streets so budget extra 5-10 minutes just in case you need to park and then walk to trailhead roundabout. It is a very safe area. But try not to leave stuff in car visibly just in case.

We will meet nearby the restroom at the trailhead. (3 bathrooms on this route: trailhead, Cornel Rd parking and Pittock Mansion)

  • Hiking shoes is a must. (I can text you Columbia store pass anytime).
  • Poles are optional but they are good for upper body exercise anyway.
  • Bring water (12 oz or more since it does have some hills) + light snack.
  • Bright clothes are cheerful and good for pictures
  • Sunscreen + sun hat
  • Optional to go to one of the restaurants on NW Thurman for lunch (St Honore is good... I am open to other suggestions as well)
