Hike Description: The hike to Tunnel Falls is one of the most storied day trips in the Pacific Northwest (see the long list of guidebooks below). You'll encounter eight major waterfalls along Eagle Creek and its tributaries, with lots of smaller and seasonal falls in-between. This is one of the easier 12-mile hikes you'll accomplish, heading up the Eagle Creek canyon on a very gently graded trail. The caveat is that the trail in many sections was blasted out of the basalt cliff faces by the 1915 crews that constructed it in conjunction with the work on the Historic Columbia River Highway. There are six sections where cable handrails will give you a sense of security as you pass above vertical drops.

CARPOOLING: We will meet at Gateway Transit Center parking garage at 7:15 am for carpooling. Or people may chose to drive by themselves to Eagle Creek trail-head at 9:00 am. If carpooling, we recommended $7 to be paid the driver to share the cost of gas/car. If carpooling, please note in the event message.
My hiking style is to stop frequently by creeks, wild-flower meadows, geological marvels and conversation, and not to rush through it. We stay together as a group. I give preference to new members, and those with good attendance record and complete profile. I value those who had a very positive impression on me during my previous hike.
- Canceling after 8 pm on the the day before hike may result in a no-show on your record.
What to bring:

Note: I have the final say on who I will take on the hike. I reserve the right to remove anyone for no shows, lack of fitness, or not being a good fit with my hiking or social dynamic based on previous hike.
