Lookout Mountain Hike

Details
Saturday shows plenty of sunshine and what better way to spend the day with a hike up Gumjuwac TH to Lookout Mountain. We start at the Gumjuwac TH which is on Hwy 35, climbing up switchbacks in the woods until we get to a saddle. From there, we take the Divide trail, # 458 to the top of Lookout Mountain. This is an out and back hike, roughly 10 miles with 3000 ft of elevation gain. We may stop for food on our way back so please do not sign up for this hike if you need to be back at a specific time. Bring plenty of water as there are no additional water resources on this hike. This hike is quiet with few people on the trail if any. Please make sure you are able to hike at a pace of 2.5 mph to keep up with the group, especially since it is a more remote trail.
We will meet at Gateway Transit Center at 8 am and carpool from there. I will ask for a few drivers if our group is large. I will also drive. The good news is that all the driving is on highway with no gravel forest roads.
Total Hike: 10 miles
Elevation gain: 3000 Ft
Meeting place: Gateway Transit Center
Total Driving Distance: 128 miles
Please pay your driver 10 cents per mile towards gas money. No one will be turned away for an inability to pay.
