Backpacking Talk-Gear, Destinations & Permits-Beginner to Advanced

Hey folks, let's meet to discuss backpacking. Specifically, we will talk about gear, destinations and permits. Beginners to experts are welcome, this includes people that are interested in backpacking, but have never been on a trip yet. Bring your questions and experience to the table.

We can discuss anything related to gear, what brands, where to shop, what to look for. We will talk about trip ideas and acquiring the proper permits to make the trip happen. I'm specifically looking for folks who are willing to apply for permits when they come available. We can also talk about other overnight trips like renting fire lookouts etc.

We will meet at The Goodfoot on SE Stark. Show up any time after 5. They open at 5, so if you get there early, just wait a bit and someone will unlock the door. The grub here is pretty good and there's always a lot of art on the walls to gawk at.
