Let's camp Tuesday night at Oswald West State Park on the Oregon Coast and watch the sun set over the ocean, enjoy a roaring campfire and celebrate the 4th with a climb on nearby Neahkahnie Mountain or Cape Falcon (both short, easy hikes). Then have dinner Wednesday in Cannon Beach.

There are 30 sites here and no reservations - it's first come first served. I plan to leave work early and head to the coast around 3 pm. For people who want to meetup, we can meet at Sunset Transit Center. If you need to work later, we can meet at the campground.

Directions: Take 26 west to 101, then south 14 miles. Look for signs for Oswald. There are 3 parking areas for Oswald, but the 3rd most southern one is the closest to the campground. You cannot park at the tent sites, but they are a short walk. The park lends out wheelbarrows so you can cart your stuff to the site. Good description from Gorp:

I will bring a lantern and stove and can lend a tent if anyone needs one.

Organizer: Jeff
