About us

Like dressing pretty and going out? Feeling anxious to get out of those sweatpants occasionally, and don your favorite frock? This group leans towards the millennial (though (younger) X and (older) Z welcome (21+)) looking to dress pretty, make friends and go out. Let’s get brunch or dinner, attend an event, or go to a museum. Let’s hear a chorus of “I love your dress” with a reply of “Thanks, it has pockets!” Welcome to The Pretty Committee!

Events to take place at various Metro Detroit locations. “Suggested dress code” of events are only suggestions based on event type.

Required Meetup Policy: Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult to events.

Group Rules:

(1) Must be 21 years or older. This group caters to millennials (24-40), but young Gen X and older Gen Z welcome.

(2) The goal is to make this group safe: no homophobia/transphobia, racism, ableism, fatphobia, misogyny, classism, etc. Utilize safe behaviors and do not harass, threaten, or be violent to other members.

(3) Do not use this group to sell products or advertise.

(4) This is not a singles-seeking-singles group. Do not use this group for the purpose of dating as this may make members uncomfortable.

(5) Update RSVPs within an appropriate amount of time.

Books and Bruch: February Bookclub Meetup

We took a little hiatus from book club but we're back for 2026 and the Pretty Committee will be a hosting monthly book club reliably through 2026 where we'll discuss a book and check out great brunch spots around metro Detroit! We'll re-kick things off with a psychological thriller that is also now a movie playing in theaters: The House Maid by: Freida McFadden: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/60556912-the-housemaid?from_search=true&from_srp=true&qid=xILDbkuwk4&rank=1.

Update 1/15: Brunch will be at Lily's Seafood. They will have both their brunch and lunch menu available. Lily's has a number of non-fish items if seafood is not your jam. I requested that they accommodate separate checks as they have been amendable to doing this when I have hosted here in the past. Parking is free in Royal Oak on Sundays and there is street parking and parking garages (both free) nearby. Reservation is under my name for 12 people, I know statistically there may be a few people who change their RSVPs so for those on the waitlist you will likely get moved up. If not, it's usually not busy there at the time we're going so we likely can accommodate you too - if there is still folks on the waitlist by the Friday before the event, I'll message you to see if you still want to go.

Please contact the Event Organizer with any pertinent updates after the cutoff date. Failure to do so may result in a warning and possible suspension/removal from the group after 3 infractions. Membership will also be evaluated if members consistently RSVP but later cancel (even within the appropriate amount of time).

Venue Note: A new venue policy has put additional financial burden on the Event Host; failure to update your RVSP within 24 hours of the event could result in an immediate removal from the group if the Event Host is charged full price for your unfulfilled reservation. If this occurs, future events at this venue may need to be prepaid.

Waitlist Note: Often spots open up for the event the week leading up to the event, so even if an event is full, if you add yourself to the Waitlist, it is highly likely you will have a chance to attend.

Saturday Lunch in Narnia

Come join me for lunch in an Igloo at White Horse Inn. We will be eating in the Narnia Igloo. Step into the Narnia Igloo via a wardrobe.

The Igloo is reserved for 2 hours for 10 members. The maximum amount of people for this is 10 with a waitlist. Separate checks have been requested but there is no guarantee that this will happen so plan accordingly.

Please make sure to keep your RSVP up-to-date. This is the first time that we have tried an Igloo dinning event.

Requirements for igloo dinning, per White Horse Inn:
- There is a $150 minimum food and beverage purchase required. Gratuity is not included in minimum.
- 10 guest maximum; parties over 10 guests will be denied entry.
- Strict 2-hour reservation. We reserve 15 minutes of your 2-hour reservation to prepare the igloo.
- Cancellations must be made via phone at least 48 hours before reservation time. No show or failure to cancel without 48-hours notice will result in a $200 fee.
- We reserve the right to cancel your reservation due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances.
- This reservation is for the outdoor igloos only, and it cannot be transferred to indoor seating.
- Multiple bookings made to hold extra spaces will not be accepted and will result in overall cancellation.
-There is a non-refundable $10 online booking fee.
