What we’re about

Like dressing pretty and going out? Feeling anxious to get out of those sweatpants occasionally, and don your favorite frock? This group leans towards the millennial (though (younger) X and (older) Z welcome (21+)) looking to dress pretty, make friends and go out. Let’s get brunch or dinner, attend an event, or go to a museum. Let’s hear a chorus of “I love your dress” with a reply of “Thanks, it has pockets!” Welcome to The Pretty Committee!

Events to take place at various Metro Detroit locations. “Suggested dress code” of events are only suggestions based on event type.

Required Meetup Policy: Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult to events.

Group Rules:

(1) Must be 21 years or older. This group caters to millennials (24-40), but young Gen X and older Gen Z welcome.

(2) The goal is to make this group safe: no homophobia/transphobia, racism, ableism, fatphobia, misogyny, classism, etc. Utilize safe behaviors and do not harass, threaten, or be violent to other members.

(3) Do not use this group to sell products or advertise.

(4) This is not a singles-seeking-singles group. Do not use this group for the purpose of dating as this may make members uncomfortable.

(5) Update RSVPs within an appropriate amount of time.

Join Halloween celebration at Eagle Tavern!

Step into a 19th-century fall evening in Eagle Tavern for a candlelit harvest supper, vigorous music and classic parlor games.
Outside, it's ghoulies and ghosties, but inside the famed Eagle Tavern, it’s an evening of traditional harvest feasting. Fill your plate with the tastes of the season amid spooky stories, fortune-telling, music and surprises.
In addition to your candlelit supper, stroll through Hallowe’en in Greenfield Village at moonlight and revel at elaborately costumed characters, dramatic vignettes, storybook characters, illuminated jack-o’-lantern paths and more.

Harvest Supper Family-Style Menu Squash soup (V, GF), roasted chicken (DF, GF), smoked pork loin with mustard sauce (DF, GF), carrots, parsnips and turnips (VG, DF, GV), sausage stuffing, pumpkin cake (V) and assorted breads and jam (V).

After Dinner: We’ll continue the evening with a leisurely stroll through Greenfield Village, soaking in the lantern-lit streets, historic homes, and seasonal displays—perfect for photos, conversation, and taking in the fall magic together.

Note: Attendance will be based on prepayment date, not RSVP date. Additional prepayments may be collected and refunded based on the Group Organizer’s ability to purchase. Attendee limit is 9. Additional dates may be purchased based on interest.

Refund Policy: There is no refund on this payment unless you sell your ticket to another group member. Please message the next member on the “Waitlist”. Please update any RSVP changes no later than Friday, 10/10/25. If you are on the Waitlist, please update your RSVP to “Not Going” as soon possible if your availability changes or you’re unable to be on standby if an attendee drops out by or after 10/10/25. Please contact the Event Organizer with any pertinent updates after the cutoff date. Failure to do so may result in a warning and possible suspension/removal from the group after 3 infractions. Membership will also be evaluated if members consistently RSVP but later cancel (even within the appropriate amount of time).

Venue Note: A new venue policy has put additional financial burden on the Event Host; failure to update your RVSP within 24 hours of the event could result in an immediate removal from the group if the Event Host is charged full price for your unfulfilled reservation. If this occurs, future events at this venue may need to be prepaid.

Waitlist Note: Often spots open up for the event the week leading up to the event, so even if an event is full, if you add yourself to the Waitlist, it is highly likely you will have a chance to attend.

Needs location
We're starting a new monthly event for the Pretty Committee - a book club (along with meeting for brunch). There were several Pretty Committee members who were part of a book club and brunch meetup that closed so we're bringing book club (and eating brunch) to the Pretty Committee and hope to see some new faces. This month we'll have 2 books because they're a little shorter:

Have an idea for a book or want to help host these monthly meetups please let me know, feel free to pm me or bring your ideas to October's meetup. We'll be looking for volunteers to host subsequent book club meetups as well as book ideas!

Note for now I'm going to set the location to TBD and the number of RSVPs to 0 (everyone will go onto a waitlist who RSVPs yes) to see how many people want to attend. I will base an initial count on Sept 24th as a baseline to book a place and move people (based on their order of RSVPing off the waitlist). If there is enough interest we may try to host more than one date a month to give everyone who has interest to participate. Looking forward to seeing many of you and please remember to keep your RSVPs current!

About the Murder Mystery Weekend
This invite comes from somebody with murder on their mind. Your invitation promises plenty of excitement and intrigue. However, beyond the glitz and glamor of this event lies something more sinister.
You and your party play the detective in this interactive game of mystery and murder behind the closed doors of Grand Hotel. Investigate the scene of the crime, interrogate suspects, and solve a murder. This one-of-a-kind event promises to be nothing short of a “Grand” ol’ time.

General Schedule of the Mystery:
- Upon check-in, receive your first packet of information and clues. Friday is the kick-off performance, which sets the tone of events and when the first murder takes place.
- On Saturday, there is a brief gathering with the Detective, who explains the hunt for clues. (This also allows you some time on your own to enjoy the beauty of Mackinac Island and Grand Hotel.)
- Come back on Saturday afternoon, when Act II is performed and another murder takes place. The evening concludes with three interactive mysteries, where guests in different groups will be rotated into the mystery experiences.
- Sunday morning the mystery is solved!

Recommend that you share a room with another member so you can keep your costs down. A team is based on 12 people - you can have less then 12 people but 12 a full team. *due to changes with the meet-up app, Mary (the Host) will put together a meet chat within messages of everyone who has signed up*

More details - theme, prices will be available in the March 2025, etc. Dressing up for both Friday and Saturday evenings is recommended. **Look for a separate event for High Tea on Friday Afternoon. **

- Recommend parking at St. Ignace Sheppler's ferry landing (aka over the bridge) due to easy of leaving Mackinac Island on Sunday.

- Recommend being on the 2pm ferry ride on Friday in order to get to the Island, checked into the Hotel, checked into the event and have your luggage be delivered to your room in time for getting ready for the Friday Night event start time.
