Talk 2/3 “Familiar Positions in Love: Pursuing, Being Chosen, and Being Left”
Details
Join us for “Familiar Positions in Love: Pursuing, Being Chosen, and Being Left”, the second talk in our three-part Psychology of Dating series with psychologist Polina Ievleva.
We’ll explore recurring patterns in relationships: idealising a partner, hoping someone will make everything feel right, and experiencing abandonment again. How might earlier experiences of being chosen, excluded, or given a “special” place shape what we expect from adult love?
Polina is a psychologist and Gestalt-trained consultant with 25 years of experience in practice and teaching.
The talk will last approximately 50 minutes, followed by a Q&A and an open discussion - a chance to share reflections, ask questions and connect with others. Tea and biscuits will be provided!
The Psychology Social is a community created by Polina, Nat and Niamh, bringing people together to explore psychology through shared knowledge, open conversations and human connection. Everyone with an interest in the topic is welcome, whether you attended the first talk or are joining us for the first time.
This event is donation-based and limited to 15 participants. To register, join our Telegram community, where further details will be shared.
