My Government Means to Kill Me, by Rasheed Newson **ONLINE MEETING**

Trey Singleton is young, Black, and queer, fleeing his wealthy Indianapolis family in order to find himself and his people in 1980’s NYC. Shortly after establishing himself there, he gets swept up in the fallout of the AIDS crisis and meets a cast of characters that changes his life forever. Newson weaves his protagonist’s coming-of-age story in with the lives of real life legends of race, sexuality, and HIV/AIDS activism.
