A space for conversations about coming alive in a world we're not built for.
The Rebel's Playground — Cumberland Valley is a discussion group for people in and around Camp Hill, Mechanicsburg and Carlisle who've noticed that the life they built doesn't quite fit, and would rather talk about it with other people than keep thinking about it alone.
A word about the name. Rebellion here doesn't mean being against anything. It means exploring how you've been going along with a life that doesn't fit you, and creating a path that does.
The point of the conversations is a common understanding of how that works, so that each of us can make real change in our own lives, and together, in the place we live.
What we do: conversations in library rooms & coffee shops, each built around one of four forces that push a life out of shape.
The Four Forces:
Mismatch. What happens when the world you're living in wasn't built for the person you are, and why that's not a character flaw.
Strategies. The things we did to cope that worked once and quietly stopped working. How to tell the difference between relief and release.
Culture. The water we're all swimming in, from the feed to the job to the family, and how much of what feels like "me" is actually "here."
Language. The words we use for our own lives, and what changes when we change them.
Monthly on-line new member orientations to the Four Forces.
The conversations draw on the book Reimagining Rebellion: A Rebel's Guide to Coming Alive in a System That's Crushing You don't need to have read it. Most people who come won't have.
Events are free unless a listing says otherwise.
