Demystifying Anxiety — Understanding What Is Actually Happening
Details
Anxiety is one of the most misunderstood experiences affecting our culture today. It's impacting more people every day, and most suffer silently with it—either feeling like the problem is them, or trying to overcome it and control it.
These strategies actually intensify it.
In this weekly meetup, we remove the stigma and show you that anxiety does not mean weakness. We offer a better perspective for what's actually going on and give you real tools to navigate the challenges that come with it.
We come together to talk openly about what it's like to live with anxiety, but we go much deeper than that. We also discover how anxiety is actually a sign that you have strengths, your body is trying to protect you, it just doesn't always know when to turn off.
What happens each week:
I introduce a topic that helps you understand what anxiety really is. Things like:
- Why trying to calm down creates more stress
- Why you can't control anxiety—you have to understand it first
- Why anxiety isn't just in your mind, and why you need to start with your body
Then we open up the conversation. You can share what you're experiencing, ask questions, or just listen. There's no pressure to have it figured out.
We end with practical tools you can use in daily life when anxiety shows up.
This group is for you if:
- You've been carrying anxiety alone and you're tired of pretending you're fine
- You want to understand what's happening instead of just trying to make it stop
- You're done with advice that makes you feel broken
- You want honest conversation and real support
A few things to know:
- Camera off is completely fine
- You don't have to speak if you don't want to
- There's no expectation you'll be "fixed" by next week
About me: I'm Carol. I've spent 20 years teaching in various professional environments such as psychiatric wards, recovery centers, and crisis lines. I witnessed where many of the clinical techniques missed. I've also lived with anxiety myself, and spent over 30 years learning and trying many different approaches.
What I learned is that anxiety isn't the problem. If we understand it and stop fighting it, there is real wisdom to be gained.
My approach is about helping you understand what's happening in your body so you can stop being at war with yourself.
