Happy fall! It's time for cooler weather, warm drinks and spooky stories.

This month we will be reading The Ruins by Scott Smith. Set on Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula. A group of friends and strangers experience supernatural events while visiting ancient ruins near a Mayan village.

This book fits specifically into the survival horrror genre, which is marked by people doing whatever it takes to conquer their environment and stay alive.

There is a film adaptation that was released 2008.
