This month we will be reading The Beekeeper's Apprentice by Laurie R King. Its the first book in the Mary Russell series.
In this novel, King presents the first meeting between fifteen-year-old Mary Russell, the young Jewish-American protagonist, and Sherlock Holmes. The novel follows their relationship as they solve cases, with Russell developing her own skills as a detective under Holmes's tutelage, evolving from mentor-student to equals. It was nominated for the Agatha best novel award and was deemed a Notable Young Adult book by the American Library Association.
