David started his advertising career on the client side as Tennessee’s assistant commissioner of Tourism. When he moved to the agency side, he worked with one of Tennessee’s largest agencies before starting his own firm. In 1990, he founded what now is bohan with four employees and one client. Bohan still has that client today.

In retirement, David continues a high level of civic engagement focusing his primary contributions in support of education. He serves on the board of Father Ryan High School, the University of Tennessee Knoxville College of Communications and Information and the University of Tennessee President’s Council.
