Hi all you readaholics!

For our second great Russian novel to read and discuss we voted on "Heart of a Dog" by Bulgakov.

We'll have a discussion around the following 3 questions:

  • What do you think Bulgakov is saying about the Soviet attempt to reshape human nature?
  • How did your perception of Professor Preobrazhensky evolve throughout the story? Do you see him as a hero, a villain, or something more complex?
  • If "Heart of a Dog" were written today, what modern setting, technology, or political context would be the best fit for this kind of transformation story?

If you think a lively discussion around "Heart of a Dog" sounds fun, please join us, even if you haven't attended any of the other events
