Mikhail Lermontov - A Hero of Our Time *ONLINE MEETING

We will be dedicating our next online meeting to one of the major classics of 19th century Russian literature: A Hero of Our Time, a novel by Mikhail Lermontov, written in 1839, and published in 1840. It is an example of the superfluous man novel, noted for its compelling Byronic hero (or antihero) Pechorin and for the beautiful descriptions of the Caucasus. This is claimed to be the first example of psychological fiction in the history of Russian literature.
