Join us to explore the Applications of Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) in Lightsaber Combat, taught by guest instructor Carlo Arellano.

This structured class is ideal for practitioners looking to go beyond repetition and rediscover the fun in learning. Each session begins with guided drills and technique exploration rooted in HEMA principles, and ends with guided open sparring a space to test and tune new concepts in a supportive, lower-pressure environment.

The focus of this class is experimentation and play. When sparring gets too serious, people often default to what’s familiar. This course is about breaking that pattern, helping you expand your skills in new directions without the pressure of “winning.” You’ll still have plenty of opportunities to go all-in during our Thursday open sparring nights but Sundays are for learning, not proving.

Whether you're experienced or new to HEMA, this is your chance to deepen your lightsaber practice through a thoughtful and fun approach.

Newbies:
No gear? No problem. We have loaner sabers and protective gear available for beginners.

Just wear workout clothes long sleeves and athletic pants or leggings are recommended.

All participants must fill out the TSL Hold Harmless Agreement at their first class.
