March 2026 Samhae Soju Academy

The Samhae Soju Workshop is now accepting members for the March 2026 Samhae Academy!

Join the Samhae Soju Workshop for an immersive experience of making soju. This academy follows a millennia-old recipe and process.
Learn how to brew cheongju (yakju) and distill soju -- hands on, step by step -- from fermenting the starter to distilling the cheongju to make your own batch of traditional soju.

Learn the history and cultural significance of soju while exploring different flavor profiles and techniques. Whether you're an expat longing for a taste of Korean culture or a spirits enthusiast looking to expand your knowledge, this workshop is perfect for all levels of expertise.

2. 1st Fermentation*

4. 3rd Fermentation**

• Saturday, May 9, 2026 @ 11:00 a.m.

5. Distillation - During the month of June, academy members will be able to schedule distillation based on personal availability. Each member will take away 15 bottles (375mL) of soju.

* Expect each batch of fermentation to take about 3 hours from start to finish.
** Each academy member will take 6 liters of yakju (18% ABV) on this day.

All ingredients, equipment and storage is included in the academy fee. Daily maintenance and progress checks will be recorded on video and uploaded.
