Hello, birders! This friendly excursion through a small urban canyon in San Diego's City Heights neighborhood is designed for first-time and still-new birders. A few binoculars are available for loan. This out-and-back walk will last from 9-10:30 AM. If we're lucky, there will be wildflowers and butterflies as well as birds! The group will be smaller than usual because Olivia Canyon's trails are relatively narrow, and it's difficult to get a big bunch of people on them.

The walk is 1.2 miles, with a few gravelly patches, one flight of wooden stairs, and minor uphill and downhill near the end: wear grippy close-toed shoes. There may also be some areas of tall grass, so wear long pants to avoid ticks.

Specific location directions will be posted shortly for attendees.
