IoT devices and systems collect relentless streams of data – but how do we separate signals from noise and turn this information into action? Time-series data analysis to the rescue!
This month’s speakers will share how they’ve architected their data stacks, what they’ve learned along the way (plus any best practices or things to avoid), and demo their projects to inspire fellow IoT enthusiasts.
Agenda (1-2pm PT):
(1) Welcome + intros
(2) Community guest speakers
(3) Q + A
(4) Resources
Featured Sessions and Guest Speakers:
Session #1: Achieving low latency IoT for earthquake early-warnings
Andy Meira (Founder of Grillo) will discuss how they've built an open-source earthquake early-warning platform, using tools like TimescaleDB, Grafana, and Docker. This system is currently used all around the world to provide communities with seconds - or even minutes! - of advance warning (and time to take precautionary measures) before any shaking is felt.
Session #2: Modeling machine data: Optimizing an IIoT time-series database
Using the context of Industrial Internet of Things, Mario Ishikawa (PackIOT CTO) joins us to share best practices and advice for modeling data from machines. He'll discuss how he's configured TimescaleDB to suit his needs, plus how (and why) to use things like JSONB, narrow v. wide tables, materialized views, and continuous aggregates across various use cases.
