An Examination of Mansfield Park through a lens of Contemporary Influences and Literary Precursors, a talk by Chris Mounsey, Professor of eighteenth-century English Literature at the University of Winchester.

Please join us to discuss contemporary influences the reader of Mansfield Park would have been privy to (and a modern reader perhaps unaware of).

In addition, we will learn about the female authors writing and publishing in the seventeenth-century, and their possible influences on Austen's Mansfield Park as well.

In preparation, focus on Mansfield Park:
Volume I Chapters XIII-XiV
Volume III Chapter III

Also here is a GoogleDocs link with works by the following early female novelists for your reference:
Aphra Behn, Mrs. Delarivier Manley, Mary Davys, Penelope Aubin
