Last year for the 2nd time the SHHC (Signal Hill Hiking Club) ran as a team in the Annual Long Beach Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning and we had so much fun! We had 27 runners. This year can we break 30?

For the majority of our team it was actually their first time running in any sort of a race and they all did so great! You can run, walk, a little of both...whatever pace you want and we will all start together and then meet at the end.

I have run this Turkey Trot for 9 years now and will happily provide guidance and counseling to those who are ready to start training that have never ran in a race before…but you must come to our Tuesday/Thursday night weekly hikes to get the tips and advice from me. Those hikes are also an excellent training ground for new runners and experienced runners alike.

This Turkey Trot is in Belmont Shore and we run first thing Thanksgiving Day morning along the ocean edge and the weather is typically perfect! If you sign up by September 30th you get an early bird discount. It is $25 plus the transaction processing fee of $2.25…so the total with the discount per person comes to $27.25. You need to sign up on the Turkey Trot website under our group (The Signal Hill Hiking Club). You MUST sign yourself up. And you must hit the drop down for the "TEAM NAME" of "Signal Hill Hiking Club" (about the middle of the registration page).

Once there click on: "Join an existing Team", and then go to the drop down and select "Signal Hill Hiking Club". This is the only way to sign up as a team for the 8am 10k.

MUST PAY BY SEPTEMBER 30th TO GET THIS DISCOUNTED RATE! After that it goes up to $30 (plus the $2.25 fee) and then higher after that. Here are the deadlines:

*Entry fees are ABSOLUTELY nonrefundable and nontransferable. *Rain or Shine event. *No dogs, bikes, inline skates, skateboards, double strollers or scooters. *Single Strollers MUST start at the back of the pack.
You will see on the registration site there are four (4) start times to choose: 7, 8, 9 or 10 a.m. but as a group we will be doing the 8am start. You can choose either the 5k or the 10k, but I will be doing the 10k and probably the majority will too, but we will meet and start as a team together regardless if you decide to do the 5 or 10k.
