Gallery Excursion! Vancouver Sketchup 038

Join us for a gallery excursion, and meet other like-minded artists in the city!

This time we are going to see 'Garbage Collection' an exhibit at Craft Council of BC on Granville Island, an exhibit by one of our regulars, Dawn Livera (@misti_ko). She uses litter that she finds on the street (clean litter, but garbage nonetheless) to inspire small hand stitched textile sculptures made entirely from scrap fabrics.

Familiar product labels become playful or thought-provoking messages, while imperfect stitches and subtle variations celebrate the individuality that mass production cannot replicate.

After we've had a look around the exhibit, if the weather is nice we will walk around and find a place to sit, sketch and chat for a bit. Bring your own materials! If the weather isn't condusive for that we'll try to find a sheltered place to set ourselves up, most likely Granville Island Brewing.

We will meet at 5pm exactly at the gallery. If you are late, try and find the group and join us.

If you aren't able to make it please take yourself off the guest list so I'm not trying to keep track of you 😅

This is an inclusive welcoming group, anyone with an inclination to art is welcome to attend! Excited to hear more about your art practice and hear your story :)
