Please arrive 10 minutes early as we will begin on time.

Guided by Melissa Breazile of Wild Tree Collaborative, our time together will be a 90-minute Mindful Outdoor Experience with gentle movement, breathing and centering exercises, nature meditation, mindful walking, and sharing.

“I recognized winter. I saw it coming (a mile off, since you ask), and I looked it in the eye. I greeted it and let it in … I took myself for walks in the fresh air and spent time doing things that soothed me. I asked myself: What is this winter all about? I asked myself: What change is coming?” -Katherine May, Wintering: The Power of Rest and Retreat in Difficult Times

Accessibility notes: We will embrace the experience of winter – which means preparing for cold – unless there are dangerous weather or road conditions.

We will be walking less than a mile on ground that has a minimal incline but may be uneven, slippery, or snow-covered. There are no indoor facilities at the location.

How to prepare:

  • Come without expectations and allow yourself to be open to a wintertime experience outdoors.
  • Dress in layers. Wear what you would be comfortable in for a day outside, plus an extra layer just in case.
  • Put on comfortable and warm shoes or boots. Don’t wear anything with a smooth tread or thin sole. We’ll be on ground that is uneven and could be icy, snowy, or muddy in places.
  • You may want a small blanket or cushion to sit on.
  • Stash a few items in a small backpack if you’d like – things like water, a hot beverage, snacks, extra layers.
  • Don’t stress too much about gear or what to pack. The important thing is keeping warm and safe and simply being, not having the perfect gear.
