I Commit to Volunteer for the Midterms

Details
Hey all,
I wanted this event to serve as a reminder that the most important midterm election in our lifetimes is just around the corner and that we have to do whatever we can to make our voices heard and take back our democracy. Do you commit to doing everything you can to make this happen? I sure do. If you do as well, RSVP to this "event."
For me, that starts with voting. And you can be damn sure that I'm going to vote on November 6th. That is the most reliable way for my voice to be heard on election day.
But like most of you, I'm looking for other ways than just voting to make a difference.
Well, one great way to make a difference this election season is canvassing (knocking on doors) in a swing district. As the photo above indicates, every fifteen votes knocked translates roughly to one vote... that means if you knock on enough doors, you could actually end up turning an entire election by YOURSELF.
Most federal elections, congressional and presidential, are decided by thousands of votes but sometimes, they are very, very close. One of the closest race in recent history was in 1994 when Samuel Gejdenson beat Edward Munster in Connecticut's 2nd district by 21 votes.
21 votes!
This is terrifying because of what's at stake, but it's also empowering. Because YOU have the power to make the difference.
So where should you go canvass or phone bank?
Well, there are a lot of close competitive districts where you can phone bank remotely. But as you an see from the photo, knocking on doors is much more efficient.
For folks living in New York City and the surrounding areas, there are several options. The closest are the two below:
The NJ-11, which is about a 40 minute drive from midtown. It's an open seat where Democrat Mikie Sherrill, a former Navy pilot and federal prosecutor, is running. You can sign up to volunteer for Mikie here: https://www.mikiesherrill.com/volunteer/
The NY-11, which is about 50 minute drive from midtown. Democrat Max Rose, an Army veteran and non-profit healthcare executive, is running. You can sign up to volunteer here for Max here: https://www.maxroseforcongress.com/index.php/campaign-updates/volunteer-with-max/
I know a lot of people in New York don't have a car. But most everyone knows someone who does! Convince them to go volunteer with you!
There are 6 weekends before election day on November 6. That's a lot of canvassing opportunities!!
I hope you commit with me to do everything you can between now and election day. And feel free to contact me with other suggestions about how to make our voices heard.
Best,
Danny
