What we're about

This group is for everyone who wants to connect with the different Hispanic American cultures through literature. We read different Spanish-speaking writers (Novel-Story-Chronicles-Poetry), as well as generate social activities about places of interest in Latin America, seeking to create spaces for conversation with a human sense, that motivate us to know and recognize and taste cultural differences, the wonderful diversity of our continent, to connect and of course, to meet new friends! and to have a good time. It is also a space to practice your Spanish or to speak it again or to reconnect with your roots and share your experiences with other people in the group.

This group is coordinated by native writers in the Spanish language and different Latin American artist guests.

Latin American literature has proven to be the vehicle to know the history of a continent marked by social and political controversies, but also the wonderful richness and originality of its different cultures.

## Detalles

The book, published in 2010, is a novelization of the life of Anglo Irish diplomat-turned- Irish Nationalist Roger Casement (1864–1916). Casement was one of the first Europeans to denounce the horrors of colonialism. His trips to the Belgian Congo and the South American Amazon left two memorable reports that shocked the society of his time. These two trips and what he saw there would change Casement forever, making him undertake another journey, in this case an intellectual and civic one, as devastating if not more so. The one that led him to confront an England he admired and to become active in the cause of Irish nationalism.
With this story, we will learn about some unknown aspects of the brutality of the English and Hispanic traders on the natives of the Amazon at the beginning of the 20th century.
Mario Vargas Llosa (Arequipa, 28 March 1936), is a Peruvian writer, who in 2010 won the Nobel Prize for Literature. His literature has rescued many of the historical traditions of the Amazon, South America and the Caribbean, with novels such as "La Fiesta del Chivo", "La Guerra del Fin del Mundo", "El Hablador", "La Ciudad y los Perros", among other great works.
PAYMENT must be made in advance.
